In this episode of our “Grocery Shopping with Pro Bodybuilders” series, we follow Kaged Muscle athlete Fouad Abiad around Costco as he makes his last off-season grocery run.
Throughout the video, Fouad gives us tips, tricks, and an insight into how he eats to get huge.
Normally Fouad has to stop by 2-3 grocery stores to get everything he needs, but he does get all of the most important things at Costco.
For the most part, Fouad tries to eat clean. Implementing somewhat of an IIFYM approach during his off-season.
First thing in Fouad’s shopping cart, Tim Hortons, a popular coffee brand in Canada that is making its way to the states.
The next stop is the meat section where Fouad grabs some beef (with extra for his old dog), steaks, and chicken breast.
Fouad wouldn’t say he’s the most health conscious bodybuilder in the world, but as he has gotten older he has tried to implement healthy food choices as best he can: veggies, fibrous foods, probiotic foods, and prebiotic foods.
That’s why he eats asparagus. Not for the diuretic benefits, but because it’s one of his favorite vegetables and a prebiotic food. A lot of folks take probiotics, but without the prebiotics to feed the good bacteria, they end up being useless.
One of the more unique foods Fouad purchases is beets. Fouad loves the taste, they help boost nitric oxide, they help with kidney function, and he likes to snack on them during the course of the day.
Fouad opts for organic eggs to err on the side of caution when it comes to eggs. And Fouad eats a lot of eggs because of their high bioavailability and the amount of enjoyment he gets from eating them.
Fouad eats every 2-3 hours most of the year. Although, he recognizes it’s not exactly healthy as your body does need to fast to regenerate cells and increase your immune system. So, there is a period of time during the year where he does slow down on the food for a bit.
Fouad’s total? $358.60 (CAD). And that’s a cheaper outing. Normally he’s over $400.
