Peanut Butter Banana Bulking Protein Shake Recipe
A good protein shake for bulking. Ingredients include your favorite protein powder, banana and peanut butter.

  • 8 oz skim milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 scoops of whey protein powder

Cooking Instructions

Place ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. You can also use whole milk and additional peanut butter, and turn this protein shake into a higher calorie weight gainer. Nutritional information for this recipe based on 2 scoops of whey protein blend and a medium banana. By using whole milk instead of skim milk, and by adding an additional tbsp of peanut butter, this shake would provide over 600 calories. Recipe provided by Jmango.

I use both strawberry and chocolate whey protein.

I'm 43 yrs old about 6ft tall and weigh a buck 50. I want to gain about 20 -25 ponds. I do have some definition to me but I'm looking to build muscles. I have a very high metabolism so keep anything on me is difficult. I've been working out when I get the chance,and eating protein bars and taking various pills none of it is working,. What are some other options that could help me out?

I tried this shake with 2 scoops of chocolate peanut butter protein, 2% or 5% milk, tablespoon of cinnamon, tablespoon of peanut butter, 5 grams of micronized creatine in my blender or shaker cup with some ice, great drink after I workout.

I Just used this recipe for my first protein shake, and it wasn't that bad. Then again it was probably amazing compared to other protein drinks.

I do this for breakfast most of the days:
1 scoop of Aptonia Whey Protein Isolate Chocolate
1 Banana
125ml Almond Milk

and after training (I'm a dancer with classes Mon-Frid from 6pm to 10pm) I usually do this:
1 or 2 scoops of Myfusion Probiotic Series Whey Protein Strawberry
200ml water

I'm on a path of losing those last bits of fat and get definition. Oh and I'm 21, 5'3 and since this morning 112lbs.
What do you think? I would really like some advice and opinions please :)

Don't buy whey protein isolates!!!! Also, don't mix with eggs as they will slow down the protein assimilation which is counterproductive to consuming after your workout.

A quality casein protein powder mixed with light or skim milk will make a good before bed protein shake. It comes in all the same flavors as whey protein. Casein protein promotes a sustained anti-catabolic environment while you sleep. I would sustain from mixing in fruits or peanut butter right before bed.

Hi! I am 30 female, 112 pounds, 5ft, I've been working out for about 3 months. I am looking to get toned and get mucsle definition. I can only go to the gym 7pm-9pm I dont' like to eat that late, so I am trying to find a good protein shake (peanut butter taste preferably ;) that I can drink after the gym right before bed. also, that won't make me gain weight and will help re-build muscle. Try this one... I have it every morning after gym

1 cup frozen strawberries
1 banana
1/2 cup quick oats (blend alone first or use food processor to create power form)
1 tbs natural peanut butter ( I like teddie )
2 cups skim milk
2 scoops favorite chocolate protein powder

Never measured it but probably about 7-8 hundred calories

can you use any protein powder like Serious Mass Protein? because this Protein powder calls for 2 large scoops of it and milk.. can you just add these ingredients and provide more protein for bulking up?

Trying to gain weight and build muscle.
Gender = Male
Age = 32
Weight = 170 lbs
Height = 68 inches
I do zero exercise.

According to the BMR calculator I need "2125 Calories Per Day".

Can this shake be used as a complete meal replacement?

If it cannot be used as a meal replacement can you suggest a liquid meal replacement or how can I modify the recipe to be a complete liquid meal replacement ?

What is the effect of adding the oats to the recipe?

(The reason I focus on liquid meal replacement is that given my current work and living situation liquid meal replacements would just be easier to work and more convenient with.....for now)

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Make it Vegan:

Substitute skim milk for almond milk (tastes a helluvalot better) or hemp milk (see below).
Substitute whey for hemp protein (is a complete protein with all essential amino acids).

This is a really good protein shake, I use it often during the week. FYI, recently I started adding those little Via packs of instant coffee from Starbucks. If you like coffee and need a little afternoon jolt, this works great. I know it sounds strange, but somehow the peanutbutter, banana, chcolate, and coffee tast all come together.

Agreed. I put in 1/2 cup of oats. I also use 12oz skim milk instead of 8oz. Yes, this will get you big--I used to have one of these every day. Now I am on my cutting phase so if I ever have one of these it will be a lower portion and a meal replacement.
