Lying Leg Raise (On Bench) Instructions
- Lie flat on a bench, facing up, with your legs extended and hands gripping the bench near your head for support.
- Engage your core and keep your lower back pressed gently into the bench.
- Lift your legs together, keeping them straight, until they form a 90-degree angle with your torso.
- Pause briefly at the top of the movement.
- Slowly lower your legs back down with control, stopping just before they touch the bench.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps, keeping tension in your core throughout.
Lying Leg Raise (On Bench) Tips
- Do not swing your legs. Use your abs to move your legs and not momentum.
- Keep your legs and knees together, and don't let your feet drop below the height of the bench.

This ab exercise really doesn't hit the lower abs without lifting your butt. I do the candlestick to target pretty mall the abdominal muscles.

I wonder if placing the bench at an angle and having your head at the high end would enhance this exercise?
@Mike - Absolutely so...lying flat on the bench as displayed in the video is the beginner method. By elevating the head (on an incline bench), the difficulty will increase
What about doing the candlestick? If you're not lifting your butt all your really doing is exercising the hip flexors mainly
