Since entering his first powerlifting meet in 1999, Brian Carroll has since risen to the absolute pinnacle of the sport. He either holds, or has held, multiple world records in three different weight classes—220, 242, and 275 pounds—and he’s one of few lifters in history to rank in the top ten in all three classes at the same time.
A native of Jacksonville, FL, Brian is currently ranked second in the world with a total of 2730—squat, bench press, and deadlift combined. His best lifts include a then-world-record 1185 pound squat—which many in the powerlifting community still consider the true world record in the 275 pound class.
Brian’s competitive meet record is among the best in the history of the sport. He has totaled more than ten times his bodyweight in three different weight classes, and he’s benched and deadlifted over 800 pounds in two different classes. Since 2005, he’s been ranked either first or second in both the squat and total—and he’s been the number one ranked lifter in both categories at 220, 242, and 275 pounds.
With an astounding 35 competition squats over 1000 pounds—spread over three weight classes—Brian is known as one of the best squatters of all time. He has, however, turned his bench press into a significant strength, posting a personal record of 825 pounds at the XPC Finals at the Arnold Sports Festival in February.
In spring 2013, suffering from multiple back issues, including several broken bones, Brian traveled to Waterloo, Ontario to see Dr. Stuart McGill, the world’s foremost lower back specialist. After just ten months of non-surgical rehabilitation, using only Dr. McGill’s strategies, he was again squatting 1100 pounds without pain.
Brian lives with his wife Ria in St. Augustine, FL, where he runs a highly successful personal training business—serving both in-person and online clients.
About 10/20/Life
Ten weeks of preparation. Twenty weeks of highly targeted training. A lifetime of getting stronger.
10/20/Life is quite possibly the most detailed strength training manual ever produced, written by an author who has proven, time and again over the past decade, to be stronger than his literary competitors both on the powerlifting platform and off.
Whether we’re talking about powerbuilding, bodybuilding, powerlifting, CrossFit, or sports, solid training programs are typically built around the three “big lifts”: The squat, bench press, and deadlift.
And the best authority to teach you what you need to know about these lifts is someone who:
- Has mastered them himself, setting multiple world records in competition.
- Has coached dozens of others to do the same.
10/20/Life is a comprehensive strength training manual that guides the reader through every step of the process. Inside, readers will find:
- A fully customizable warm-up protocol that will prevent injuries and promote longevity and increased strength gains.
- A unique “weak points and assistance work” guide designed to teach the reader to design his or her own individual program based on need.
- Proven 10-week offseason and pre-contest (or “max-out test”) training programs that are currently being used by some of the strongest athletes in the world.
- Coaching form and technique cues for literally every inch of the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
- Loads of under-the-bar advice on the psychological aspects of training, mastering your fears, and “turning pro” in the gym.
- A sound nutritional plan for strength and mass gains.
10/20/Life is a program and philosophy anyone can use to get strong, fast. Whatever your main training system is, the underlying theme that makes it successful is getting stronger in the three main lifts—the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Over the course of his career, Brian Carroll has transformed his performance of these lifts into an art form, becoming, literally, one of only a handful of athletes in history capable of doing what he does under the bar.
